Looking for the right color means color testing and that is just what I did. Little pieces of wall painted in several color
combinations ending up for this project as follows:
After finishing the actual building stage I had to think about how I would paint this project. The walls and roofs make up
the largest parts of the structure. They had to fit together concerning color. It’s important that the structure hasn’t got
colors that dominate although panting only neutral earth like colors would make the building look dull.
First the walls. Spray painted black, washing it Hunter Green (Dark natural color), Highlight it with a firm brush of
medium gray, a less firm brush of Dark Khaki and ending with Beige. Gives it an old look with a greenish glow over it.
The roof was also spray painted black. A mix of black, silver and light blue made up the first brush. A second brush was
light blue.
The Roof ornaments and pillars where painted Terracotta and brushed with Dark Khaki and Beige.
The wooden parts were painted Raw Umber and brushed with Yellow Ochre (Same goes for the inside of the roof sections.
The floor tiles in the chapel where painted partial black and partial gray, brushing them lighter gray and white.
The finishing touch in this projects are the statues
inside the niches, the rubble in the cracks on the floor and the
roof support beams that stick out. Some details that are not always immediately noticed but in the end makes a project
complete.
