The two houses I made so far both have one flat side. The idea is that you can put them together if you like. I can also design houses now that can be placed in between the two houses. While making the houses I already decided that I would make a “Gatehouse” to start with. Three years later, after finishing the two houses, the “Gatehouse” is finally finished. The design of the gatehouse was made during the production of the first two houses. From there it went in to my “Project” for the next 2.5 years. Once I started working on the “Gatehouse” I made a “temporary casting form " out of Styrodur and cast the front out of plaster. Since both sides will be the same I have to cut the wall/gate section only once. Next I made the wooden door section. I decided to make a closed version of the “Gatehouse” since a closed version is more easy to cast. I do however want to make an open gate version also. The door section as seen in the pictures below are only a test. I wanted to have a more interesting door then just a straight forward door. The final part is the roof. Again I made a “temporary casting form " out of Styrodur and carved up the roof. I ended up having one roof, two gate sections and two doors, glued it all together and made a mold out of it. (see “Rotocasting"). If you compare both pictures below you will see that the difference between the front and rear are in the roof and door section of the “Gatehouse”. Finally, the gatehouse was the starting point for the layout of the pavement. As you can see in the final picture.
